EZINE
KICKSTART
Miss us? I'd like to welcome
you all back to our weekly Ezine. We've taken a 2 week hiatus to re-tune
our newsletter to this HTML format that you see before you now. Hopefully
this switch over will make reading through each issue easier on the eyes.
Be sure to drop a line if you like the change.
We've also made a few other
changes with our new format (some obvious, some not so obvious). As one
of the more drastic changes our story segment, Developer Tales, has been
dropped, so that we can dedicate more time towards gathering relevant web
development information. Developer Tales is not likely to come back any
time soon (unless of course the mob becomes angry, and starts knocking
down our door for it).

this issue, feel free to contact me: editor@bigresources.com.

WHAT
DO YOU THINK?
This segment (formerly "READER
FEEDBACK") shines a light on some of the email that I receive from readers
of the Ezine. Lately I've been receiving questions on why the Ezine stopped,
well I believe that the EZINE KICKSTART covers this well enough. So this
week I'd like to ask a question to all of you, now that it's finally here,
how did you like the new Ezine format? What did you like best? What did
you like least? What should we add? What should we remove? Your replies
will help shape this Ezine towards your needs and wants. I'll be publishing
some of the more interesting responses in this segment next week, so be
sure to include your own website's URL with your reply if you would like
to see it published to our audience of 65,000 readers. I look forward to
hearing from you.

THINK", write to: editor@bigresources.com.

UPDATES
Well, the past two weeks
may have gone by without a newsletter, but our website updates have been
most eventful just the same!
A1JavaScripts.com (http://www.a1javascripts.com)
Diligent webmaster Ian McDonald
has added 3 new scripts to A1JavaScripts, here's what you'll find in the
mix:
Double
Image Swap Script
This script will swap two
images on mouseover. It includes status text and alt text.
TextPacker
This script will display
a message in the status bar of your browser, any message can be added.
The
Virtual Ribosome Script
Possibly the strangest script
found on A1JavaScripts to date. If you want to offer your visitors a tool
for DNA re-sequencing, you'll only find it here.
123Webmaster.com (http://www.123webmaster.com)
In addition to a resource
database of increased capacity (more links), the following writings have
been added:

Where
do Templates Come From?
Written by Jason M. DesRoches
In this addition to FresherImage,
I interview Adonis Ronquillo, founder of the infamous FreeWebTemplates.com.
This interview contains a lot of insight to Doni's talents, and even reveals
some of his secrets (and before you ask, no he's not Batman).

Familiar with those scanlines
that make images look like they were pulled off a TV set? Here's how they
are accomplished.
FreeWebTemplates.com (http://www.freewebtemplates.com)
I'd like to extend a welcome
to our new FWT helper, Andy of ace-installer.com. With his help, webmaster
Doni Ronquillo has been able to slap up his cool new blue design, and publish
about 30 new user submitted templates. Have you seen the updates yet?
FontFiles.com (http://www.fontfiles.com)
Talk about goodies :) We've
added 25 new fonts to FontFiles, with large, crisp examples. Among the
more interesting fonts added are TombStone,

LAST
HEARD IN THE COMMUNITY
It can be said that this
new section goes hand in hand with the one above. Taken from our community
forums, at http://www.htmlforums.com,
are some of the more interesting conversations that are taking place right
now.
How
to get the printer object from JavaScript?
An interesting discussion
in the Client Side Scripting forum. In this thread several of our forum
members get together on how to send an HTML report to the browser to be
printed. Several variables are involved, and this problem turns out to
be much more complex than it sounds.
Trouble
with tables
In short, this thread posted
by MetallicHolden (taken from out HTML Layout category) asks the question
"Can an entire table cell be considered a link by the browser?" A slathering
of very interesting responses follow this unique challenge.
Incorporating
two sites
Ever try to combine two
sites? Justjeni of http://www.justjeni.com has. The suggestions in this
thread could help you too, if you ever face this challenge.
Not looking to join a lengthy
discussion at the moment with our active community of webmasters? Well,
it doesn't mean that there's something wrong with you (although it might),
but you might just want to stop by and get a free
review of your website anyway. Our community is always happy to help.
WEEKLY
FEATURE
This week, I've decided
to feature part 3 to 123webmaster's latest article "The Incomplete Guide
to Common Web Acronyms". While it's not the most technical writing that
has ever been published, I think it's a fun way to start off volume 3 of
our new Ezine format.
The Incomplete Guide to
Common Web Acronyms
Part III: Chat Acronyms
& Emoticons
Compiled by Jason M. DesRoches
Finally, the fun stuff. These
common chat room acronyms will have you ROFL, and make you LOL in no time!
Familiarize yourself with the list before you attempt to make contact,
then come show off what you learned with us at htmlforums.com.
